Meeting Structure

  • Held every Friday
  • Arrival: 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM; Meeting: 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Start/end with prayer
  • Attendance with a sober mind
  • Fines: Kshs. 50 for missed meeting (no apology accepted); Kshs. 20 for lateness (after 4:30 PM) + Kshs. 50 for tea/venue = Kshs. 70
  • Phones are silent/off
  • Orderly contribution
  • No quorum required
  • Venue arranged by the organizer

Support Contribution (Table Banking)

  • Each member contributes Kshs. 2,500 for one person per month.
  • The first person to "table" their contribution is the owner of the safaris (function).
  • Contribution breakdown: Food 20%, Transport 30%, Member support 45%, Group 5%.
  • Timely payments are crucial; 10% fine for late payment (fine to group, total amount to member).

Emergency & Welfare Support

  • Welfare Kitty: Established for bereavement support
  • Bereavement Contributions:
    • Kshs. 500 for bereaved parents or children of a member (representative sent)
    • Kshs. 1,000 if a member dies (all members expected to attend)
  • Beneficiaries: Limited to a member, spouse, children, and both parents (husband and wife)
  • Sickness: Not generally supported; members encouraged to register with SHIF

Group Expenses & Funding

  • Initial challenge in footing bills, now more structured
  • Kshs. 50 contribution for tea/venue (mandatory for all members per meeting)
  • Kshs. 5,000 retained from each member's Kshs. 102,000 benefit (total Kshs. 95,000 retained from 19 members so far). This retained amount funds group operations
  • Other sources: New member registration fees, fines (missed meetings, lateness)
  • Usage: Registration, transport, printing, materials, internet, communication, training, venue hiring, invited guests, bank expenses
